Biographical Sketch
Thorsten joined the department in 2005 with primary responsibility for the agri-business undergraduate program, where he teaches several upper division classes, advises students and the student club. He has directed the Oregon University Systems’ study abroad program in Japan in 2009 and taught at Waseda University. In 2009 and 2010 he organized and led two international student field trips. Thorsten’s research focuses on predicting futures prices and price risk using option-based methods, decision-making under uncertainty and the economics of biofuels.
